The precise execution date of this painting is not known, but is assigned to the 1480s as one of Montagna's earlier works. Montagna spent almost his entire life in Vicenza, and is known to have lived beginning in 1484 across the street from the Church of San Lorenzo in Vicenza.

Unknown — 1907

Carlo Vaeni is known to have lived in the area near Valle Lagarina, which is not far from Chiusole and Rovereto. Carlo Vaeni died in 1887. The picture passes by descent to his child, N.D. Fanny Vaeni by about 1907, but the location of the picture between Carlo Vaeni's death in 1887 and Fanny Vaeni's possession of the picture is not precisely known.
