From the Kress Foundation: Possibly the Earl of Jersey - According to Frederico Zeri, in an opinion dated 24 January 1963, this painting was with the Earl of Jersey in c. 1935. If so, this would be George Francis Child Villiers, 9th Earl [1910-1998]. Zeri suggests it was in a Jersey sale at Sotheby's or Christies but to date this sale has not been identified.
