Pastoral Concert, Titian, 1510 — 1511, oil on canvas, 137.0cm x 105.0cm

1622 — 1623

The suggestion that the painting entered into the collection of Thomas Howard, Earl of Arundel, was introduced by M. Hervey in 1921. Many catalogues list the first notice of the picture in the Jabach collection prior to its sale in 1671 to Louis XIV. The itineraries listed here from 1622 until its entry into the Jabach collection should be understood as hypothetical and questioned by many scholars.

Later the Hotel Richelieu. Duc d'Antin was the son of Madame de Montespan and half-brother to the illegitimate sons of Louis XIV. He took several paintings, including Raphael's Portrait of Baldassarre Castiglione, for his home and kept them upon the king's death in 1715. Not all sources place the painting in Duc d'Antin's possession.
